Engineers further claimed that other ultra-luxury, high rise condos in the city are also facing these issues–just as quietly and amid an equal mire of resident complaints. Among these issues are loud, creaking walls and violently swaying elevator cables that often lead to elevator malfunctions. Some of the building’s lauded engineers have anonymously acknowledged that the building is abnormally vulnerable to high winds that result in mechanical issues. Īt least one-third of 432 Park Avenue’s residents disagree and they are not alone. CIM further reiterated to The New York Times that 432 Park Avenue is, in fact, very well designed. Despite this, CIM Group, one of 432 Park Avenue’s developers, claimed that it would be “working collaboratively” with the resident-run condo board to promptly address residents’ concerns. Until last month, the condo board of 432 Park Avenue was composed of developer representatives to whom most of these complaints have been directed to or against. The defects appear to be correlated with the building’s excessive height and have been characterized as failures of the design experimentation necessary to erect such a tall residence. Residents have submitted complaints to and against the board of 432 Park Avenue which cite downed elevators, frequent flooding, and creaking walls either as reasons to back out of lease deals or in demand of remedy. The condo residents of 432 Park Avenue have quietly entered into a series of disputes with developers over design defects and claims of mismanagement, The New York Times recently uncovered. It is the humbly named giant: 432 Park Avenue, home to some of the city’s wealthiest residents–and now, some of its angriest. The building stands tall and thin some 1,400 feet in the air, rising far above the thick of Manhattan’s bustling midtown. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest residential building in the world and remains the tallest residential building in the country. The tower is clearly viewable from every borough of New York City as well as from New Jersey. Then there was the story, which started off a “simple” ghostbusting mission but turned into something quite different. But being able to create my own character and see through their eyes, with way more choice than in The Elder Scrolls: Arena, was a big draw. I’d never really engaged with the Ultima series, partly because I thought the Avatar was as dull as ditchwater. Was this enough to make me uninstall Daggerfall and fling the CD out of the window? No, and it’s a testament to the game’s strengths that I was willing to overlook some of this tedium. The fourth time this happened, I wondered just how unlucky one person could be. On another occasion, I was given a cursed ring that, in turn, brought the wrath of a mummy down upon me. However, a few hours later, I was offered the same quest and was greeted by a different vampire clan leader. The coven leader rewarded me with the tantalizing promise that our paths would cross again, which I took as kicking off a whole vampire questline. I slaughtered the blood-sucking badass the local vampire clan sent after me, and after finding a note amongst their remains, I decided instead to hand the item over to the vampires. I remember grinning when a group of vampire hunters foolishly trusted me to courier a vampire-slaying artifact. Think some of Skyrim’s dungeons look familiar? Daggerfall’s procedurally generated dungeons were worse, and thanks to issues with the way the chunks of dungeon slotted together, there was a real risk of falling into an endless abyss.Īnd then there were the sidequests that, when you encountered them the second or third time around, started to lose their appeal. The titular city was a joy to explore, but the “unique locations,” while technically unique, bore a striking resemblance to each other. However, the more you played Daggerfall, the more you started to notice how uninteresting the world was. Certainly, there was no shortage of dungeons to use as destinations. It wasn’t just the locations that were procedurally generated, either the game’s sidequests were generated on the fly. I used to just roam, encountering small town after small town and dungeon after dungeon. I remember being astounded, and a little intimidated, by how massive the game was. Naturally, the program used to create them would have rules to ensure the dungeons “worked,” and hey presto – thousands of non-story dungeons.Īnd for a while, that worked. They then made that Daggerfall’s default, so that everyone got the same massive map.īut hang on… How do you procedurally generate dungeons? Well, you chunk your dungeons into specific room types and then let the computer mix and match those locations. What Bethesda did with Daggerfall was procedurally generate the bulk of the world’s map – not in-game, but back at Bethesda HQ. Skyrim, by contrast, has around 200 dungeons, and even a few of those look a little samey. But Daggerfall really was something else, sporting over 15,000 locations and over 4,000 dungeons. If you’ve played any of Ubisoft’s recent open-world titles, you might think you know what I’m talking about – vast worlds filled with busywork and not an awful lot else. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has its dragons, but Daggerfall’s tale was more politically charged, ultimately revolving around an invention that could alter the balance of power.įinally, and most importantly, Daggerfall proved that bigger isn’t always better, particularly when procedural generation is involved, and it’s this lesson that Bethesda needs to bear in mind when crafting The Elder Scrolls VI. Secondly, it proved you didn’t need some vast world-ending threat for a story to be gripping. Firstly, it proved that The Elder Scrolls: Arena wasn’t a fluke and that Bethesda had the chops to deliver a challenging but engaging open-world RPG. The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, a major accomplishment by most standards, proved several things. Don't write them down on sticky notes or notebooks that lie around on your desk or under thekeyboard. Don’t upload critical passwords in a file on your computer or the cloud. When you have to share it as a one-off, it’s best to change it immediately. Never share them in emails, text messages, over the phone, or with anyone (not even with a significant other!). Don’t share! As statistics show that 57% of Americans share passwords with their partners, try to always keep your passwords confidential.Experts recommend at least every 10 to 12 weeks (worst case scenario, annually), especially if you’ve shared them with another person or if you’re aware of a major data breach that might have exposed them. Therefore, a strong password must be fortified by following a few rules, such as the following: Generating a strong password is not enough if its maintenance, storage, and management are neglected. Social Engineering - Manipulating unsuspecting users into giving out confidential data by making them believe the hacker is a genuine agent who wants to help them.įortunately, Password Generators like IDStrong are designed to prevent any algorithmic weakness from the get-go and instantly suggest extremely-difficult-to-crack passwords for any online account.Phishing – Tricking users into revealing valid login credentials through a malicious link, instant message, text message, spoofed email, or a bogus webpage. Rainbow Table Attack – Hacking passwords by using a precomputed rainbow hash table with values that encrypt passwords before they’re being added to a database.Dictionary Attack - Systematically using each word in a wordlist or dictionary as a password, in the hope that the user's password is a popular word.Brute Force Attack – A trial-and-error method that "guesses" all possible combinations of login info, usernames, passwords, or encryption keys. The following commonly-used methods of stealing passwords stand no chance: Our IDStrong Password Generator is scientifically engineered to create unique, complex, long-enough passwords that are not necessarily easy to remember or type, but they guarantee to keep online accounts protected against password crackers. What makes a Password Impossible-To-Crack? The built-in randomness can be fine-tuned to fit the password guidelines recommended by multiple websites. Every random password is highly secure since it’s backed by an algorithm built to find the optimal combination of numbers, upper and lower case letters, numbers, and punctuation symbols for a highly-secure password. A random password generator is a cryptographically safe tool configured to automatically create lengthy, unique, and impossible-to-guess user passwords. That way, you don’t have to guess what the result might be. Near the middle of the window, you’ll see other options that change how PowerRename works. This Sony produces a mind-boggling picture off Blu-Ray and a very nice up-conversion upscaling of conventional DVDs. Now, however, I am thinking about keeping this Sony player. I love Amazon but for a big screen TV, I paid the 9% sale tax for the piece of mind of an easy return if needed, and Costco s 90 day, no questions asked return policy allowed me a test drive the player, while I waited for the LG BD-390 to come down from the stratospheric, jacked up current prices supply and demand. I also bought my first HDTV at that time a 42 1080 Panasonic plasma, at Sears, of all places, also on sale. This is my first Blu-Ray player, which I bought at Costco on-sale just before Christmas. Five stars for quality and functionality, minus half a star for the annoyances. Overall, an excellent buy, and I am very satisfied with this product. I suppose most of these can likely be fixed by future firmware updates there have been at least two additional since setup. And as someone mentioned, it forgets where it was if you turn off the power in the middle of a disc. It would also be nice if the remote also had an eject button for the disk I miss that from the old players. I can t figure why, since the Netflix stream is fine, but really haven t agyaat 2 it. Download speed is very slow as well, so this feature is not pleasant to use and I gave up on it after the first few tries. The BD-Live feature doesn t work very well, it would not work with either of the 2 or 4Gig SanDisk thumb drives I used, crashing while downloading an HD trailer. Annoyances: Some of the menu pop-ups are too slow to go away for example, after selecting a scene the selection menu will sit blocking the bottom of the screen for about 5 seconds before it goes away. Upon initial startup with agyaat 2 Internet connection, it detected it needed a firmware update, downloaded, installed, and I was watching a DVD within 10 minutes very easy to use. This box is chock full of features, adjustments, and settings, and I doubt I ll ever get to half of them. Using an HDMI connection, the BluRay video quality is equal to or better than the HD reception from the Dish network DVR. The Callisto Protocol releases on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and PC December 2, 2022. It looks dark, terrifying and brutal while leaving us nostalgic for those good ole Dead Space memories. The graphics are out of this world and what little sound mixing we’ve heard leaves us with chicken skin. These two new videos only make us more excited to get our hands on The Callisto Protocol. With as gross as these guys look, I’m not sure why you’d want them cuddling up next to you. There also seems to be intense melee fighting as well as a type of phase ability to bring the enemies closer to you. Even with arms shot into splinters, they will still keep coming. The gunplay reminds me of Resident Evil 2 guns with the monsters taking nearly a full clip before finally falling. Whether the monsters are aliens, infected or parasites is yet to be seen but they look difficult to take down. It looks like Jacob is armed with a weapon, perhaps a plasma based weapon, which has some pretty heavy dismemberment abilities. If you’re one of the players that think gore is scarier, then never you fret because The Callisto Protocol has that too, in spades. It creates such an eerie and isolated atmosphere so quickly. In that small demo, The Callisto Protocol has shown itself as an immensely scary game just by its use of sound alone. Then the screaming gets closer really fast and all of a sudden, you’re zombie food. Then you hear a scream and a hiss in the distance and you know all of the peaceful days are gone. It’s a peaceful, sunny day on the beach and the only sounds you hear are the swaying of the palms and the lapping of the ocean. “That’s insane!” you scream but I beg you to think of the game’s use of sound. Or example: Dead Island is scarier than Dying Light 2. I’ll argue that the scariest games aren’t always the gory ones but the games that utilize sound the best. The gameplay seems very Dead Space-esque with dark and quiet atmospheres punctuated by the horrifying sounds of something lurking in the dark. The gameplay for The Callisto Protocol from Striking Distance Studios has already drawn many comparisons to the game Dead Space from EA, but arguably, Callisto Protocol already is shaping up to be. That’s the kind of character death that will stay with you for a bit. The Callisto Protocol is already reminiscient of Dead Space, but it has the potential to do even better than what EA was able to achieve originally. The game arrives on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on December 2, 2022.If you thought getting chomped by a monster was bad, I think that ending raises the stakes quite a bit. We can’t complain though, as the integration of the UI in the world was one of the best things about Dead Space.Ĭheck out The Callisto Protocol gameplay trailer for yourself below. And it looks like Lee has a few lights on his suit that more than remind of us of Issac’s suit. Gore, tentacles and some futuristic weapons are all here to satisfy your space-horror urges. However, there’s a few key differences, not least some murderous robots that aren’t taking too kindly to the inmates. Proceedings have a distinctly Dead Space feel to them, as we expected from the creators of that series. You’ll have to fight to survive the monsters and uncover the secrets of the sinister United Jupiter Company.Īs you can see from the footage below, expect plenty of scares, dark shadows and mutated monsters. After a mysterious outbreak, guards and inmates are turning into monsters called Biophage. We now know you’re playing as Jacob Lee, an inmate at the mysterious Black Iron Prison. The new footage came with a PlayStation Blog post from Glen Schofield, who offered up a little more detail. Striking Distance Studios has unveiled the first gameplay footage from upcoming survival horror The Callisto Protocol. |
