Engineers further claimed that other ultra-luxury, high rise condos in the city are also facing these issues–just as quietly and amid an equal mire of resident complaints. Among these issues are loud, creaking walls and violently swaying elevator cables that often lead to elevator malfunctions. Some of the building’s lauded engineers have anonymously acknowledged that the building is abnormally vulnerable to high winds that result in mechanical issues. Despite this, CIM Group, one of 432 Park Avenue’s developers, claimed that it would be “working collaboratively” with the resident-run condo board to promptly address residents’ concerns. Until last month, the condo board of 432 Park Avenue was composed of developer representatives to whom most of these complaints have been directed to or against. The defects appear to be correlated with the building’s excessive height and have been characterized as failures of the design experimentation necessary to erect such a tall residence.
